SAN AUGUSTINE CO., TX (KTRE) – San Augustine County commissioners have decided to extend the water distribution to customers served by the City of San Augustine Water, which includes San Augustine Rural and Bland Lake Rural Water.
The decision comes as crews work to fix a water main which broke last Wednesday affecting 1,804 households and 7,217 residents. A temporary fix is in place, however, residents are advised to boil their water until further notice and to expect continued low pressure and some outages for a period of time.
Bottled water will be distributed until 5 p.m. this afternoon and again from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. beginning Tuesday and lasting until TCEQ approves the San Augustine water supply. The distribution is being held at the San Augustine County Rodeo Arena / Expo Center.
Repair on the water main is scheduled to begin at daybreak on Tuesday.
Again, the county is still under a boil water notice. This means everyone should bring water to a rolling boil for three minutes.
Allow the water to cool before using.
Store cooled water, boiled water or bottled water for:
- Brushing teeth
- Preparing food and baby formula
- Making ice
Even though City of San Augustine water is not approved for drinking unless boiled, it has been treated and it is approved for bathing and washing clothes.
