Houston Cougars too much for Nittany Lions

(AP) - Penn State's tumultuous season ends with a 30-14 loss to Houston in the Ticket City Bowl.

The Cougars were looking to rebound from their only loss in 13 games. They did so in true Cougar fashion. Star quarterback Case Keenum threw for 532 yards and three touchdowns to help the 20th-ranked Cougars finish 13-1.

Keenum burned the 24th-ranked Nittany Lions with touchdown passes of 40 and 75 yards to build a 24-7 lead by halftime.

It was Tony Levine's first game since being promoted to replace Head Coach Kevin Sumlin, who left to take the job at Texas A&M.

It was Penn State's first bowl game without Joe Paterno as head coach since 1962. Paterno was fired Nov. 9 after getting caught up in a scandal that followed the arrest of former assistant Jerry Sandusky on multiple charges of child sex-abuse.

Penn State finishes 9-4.
