ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - A Nacogdoches County deputy was injured Monday morning in a one-vehicle crash in Angelina County.
The deputy was injured after he apparently lost control and drove a patrol car off the road on the southbound lane on U.S. 59 North, in the Redland area around 8:45 a.m.
Emergency responders had put the deputy on a stretcher to take him to a hospital.
Sheriff Thomas Kerss said the deputy, Emanuel Ribera, who works in inmate transport, was taking an inmate to Huntsville when he lost control on the wet road and rolled the Ford Crown Victoria down a steep embankment.
Kerss said the inmate was not injured but was taken to a hospital as a precaution and would probably be sent to the Huntsville prison later Monday.
Ribera was treated and released for injuries to his head, chest and ribcage.
