Autopsy confirms body found was missing Shelby County man

A preliminary autopsy has confirmed that the body discovered in the Sabine National Forest in December is that of the man who was reported missing a month earlier.

A full autopsy to determine the cause of death is still pending.

David Earl Ross, 75, was reported missing in November.

Two high-school aged hunters from Carthage reported a man in a car that was not moving near the Ragtown and Patroon communities, close to Toledo Bend in the southeastern part of the county.

Investigators say the man appeared to be dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
