LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A Pollok man was booked into the Angelina County Jail Tuesday in connection to a fatality accident nearly one year ago which killed a Lufkin man.
Issac Jacob Tucker, 20, is charged with one count of intoxicated manslaughter and one count of intoxicated assault.
According to a previous report, Tucker was driving a 1995 Lexus southbound on U.S. 69 North, a mile south of FM 843, at 12:35 a.m., when he crossed the center line and struck an 18-wheeler head-on.
One of Tucker's passengers, Nicholas Zayne Anthony, 19, of Lufkin, was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:40 a.m. Another passenger, Ryan Walton, 19, of Pollok, was taken to a Tyler hospital with serious injuries.
Tucker also suffered serious injuries. In a February 2011 interview, then-DPS spokesman Greg Sanches said Tucker would be arrested on the charges once he made a full recovery, because blood test results show he was intoxicated at the time of the wreck.
"So, we were in the process of waiting his injuries out, basically waiting for him to heal, but in the meantime, the trooper that did the crash issued a warrant for his arrest for the intoxication assault and also the intoxication manslaughter," said Stephanie Davis, the DPS spokeswoman.
Neither Tucker's family nor Anthony's family would comment on the incident.
Tucker's Lexus collided with a big rig between Tucker and Anthony's homes.
"He made that choice to drink, he made that choice to get behind the wheel of the car and drive it, so in that respect as far as his feelings and it's hard on him that's part of the consequence that comes along with drinking and driving," Davis said.
