East Texans can now help child abuse victims by serving jury duty

ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - Those called to serve jury duty in Angelina County can also serve East Texas victims of child abuse.

Angelina County commissioners voted Tuesday to allow jurors to donate their pay to Court Appointed Special Advocates, or CASA.

When payment is disbursed for jury service, jurors have the option of donating the pay to several local non-profits.

Several agencies were already on the list, such as Crime Stoppers and The Boys and Girls Club.

CASA serves as a voice for abused and neglected children in court proceedings.
