A strong, Canadian cold front will bring significantly colder temperatures to Deep East Texas over the next several days.
You will feel the biting cold when you head out the door early this morning, thanks in large part to the gusty north winds. We will see winds sustained at 15 to 20 mph today, with gusts approaching 30 mph at times. It's those blustery conditions that will keep temperatures in the 40's this afternoon, despite the fact we will have plenty of sunshine.
As the winds subside tonight, we will see a hard freeze for early Friday morning, with low to middle 20's expected across the Texas Forest Country.
With skies remaining mostly sunny during the day and mostly clear at night, that will lead to cold mornings followed by cool afternoons as we head through the weekend. Needless to say, your winter wardrobe will be getting a pretty good workout in the days to come.
