Report: Nacogdoches man tries to steal wallet during daytime on North Street

NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) -

Nacogdoches Police arrested a man Wednesday afternoon after determining he had tried to steal a wallet from another man who was sitting on the sidewalk on North Street.

According to the report, the 71-year-old victim was sitting on the sidewalk on the 300 block at 2:43 p.m. when Steve Lewis Woolf, 53, of Nacogdoches, came up to him and tried to remove his wallet by force.

Another citizen saw the incident and got Woolf to run away from the area. Officer were able to locate him behind a business in the 600 block of North Street, where they arrested hiim on a charge of aggravated robbery.

The victim was not hurt.

Woolf remains in the Nacogdoches County Jail, where he is waiting for a bond to be set.
