LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Two children living in a Lufkin home in which two people were arrested for selling meth out of have tested positive for the drug, according to an investigating officer.
Sgt. Allen Hill with the Angelina County Sheriff's Office said the tests came back positive and new warrants have been filed for Laura E. Dixon, 34, of Lufkin, and Benjamin Scott McCoy, 23, of Hemphill, on child endangerment charges.
Deputies arrested the pair on Pershing Avenue on December 28 following an investigation into drug activity at the home. CPS took custody of the two children, both aged 5, and tests were conducted to see if they had been exposed to meth.
Both were charged with possession of a controlled substance and since have bonded out of jail.
Hill said Dixon is in drug rehab and will be arrested again once she is out of the program. He said for now, McCoy is at-large but will soon be served with the new warrant.
