Work out for St. Jude's raises money for children

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - East Texans work out for a good cause on Saturday.

The 2nd annual workout for St. Jude's benefit is sponsored by Woodland Heights Medical Center. And, they're raising money for St. Jude's Research Hospital. For a 20 dollar donation, everyone was able to take part in two, full-body workouts, complete with cardio training and yoga.

Event coordinators hope to make the event bigger and raise more money each year.

"Plans for next year is to do this same thing. I'm going to do this every year, as long as I'm healthy and able to do it. I'm going to support these St. Jude's children," said Connie Reeves, owner of Get Fit. "And, again, if we run out of room in here, we're going to find a bigger place in this community to support these children."

Last year's event raised over 2-thousand dollars for the hospital. Reeves hopes this year's attendance doubles that number.
