CENTRAL, TX (KTRE) - Central Elementary is donating clothes to the community with their first clothing drive.
School administrators and students gathered donations for a couple months to give back to the community. On Saturday, East Texans were able to come shop and take whatever they like. Central High School donated over 1-thousand jeans for the event. The school's principal says with the successful turnout, this event will have to be hosted again.
I'm very blessed to work here at Central. And, the staff is wonderful. The community is always so supportive. And so, it makes me feel really good to be able to give back what they've given to us," said Central Elementary School principal, Karen Shumaker.
Shumaker plans to open the doors to the community to continue donating on Monday. The community is invited to stop by between 8 a.m. and 3. The school also hopes to hold another donation drive before school starts back in August.
