At the age of eighteen months, Cameron Jones was diagnosed with a medical condition so rare, he was the first to be diagnosed. "Venous Malformation Mesentery", is a condition of abnormal blood vessels in multiple locations in his abdominal cavity. A 19 hour surgery when Cameron was five at Miami School of Medicine, was thought to correct the problem. However in a few years the masses in his stomach returned.
Last year at Grand Saline High School, Cameron heard prize winning author John Borgstedt speak about his abuse as a child. Although Cameron's story was different, he admired Borgstedt's ability to survive and inspire others. Cameron asked Borgstedt to help him write a book about his life and Borgstedt agreed.
Borgstedt's publisher is already interested in the book as well as Headstone Pictures. The Jones family knows that book publishing takes time and they live their lives day by day. But even though there is pain, struggle and mounting medical bills, Cameron's mother Chastity describes their lives as a "beautiful journey" and says that Cameron is their "angel".
