NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - The Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Office has arrested a man already in trouble for theft charges after determining he had assaulted his wife and damaged her car.
Sheriff Thomas Kerss said deputies were called out to a residence on Feeder Access Road around 11:30 a.m. Monday and learned that Juan Cruz Pineda, 40, had assaulted and injured his wife and damaged her car by breaking the driver's side window and damaging the door. Kerss said the glass from the window injured the woman.
Deputies reported that when the arrived, Pineda hid inside the residence and locked the door and would not come out. Deputies were able to force their way inside and Pineda tried to escape and they had to wrestle him down to detain him.
When deputies got Pineda to the jail, he threatened his wife for having him arrested, earning him a retaliation charge, Kerss said.
Pineda is also charged with a felony charge of criminal mischief and misdemeanor charges of assault and resisting arrest. He was also booked in the jail on Nacogdoches Police warrants of criminal mischief and harassment.
Pineda was arrested in October in connection to a major multi-county theft ring involving hundreds of thousands of dollars in equipment.
