The SFA Ladyjacks are looking to make a run for the Southland conference title and beyond. They admit to do that it will take some leadership from their seniors.
"We are a young group, but we are very balanced," said Ladyjacks coach Brandon Schneider. "They are a mature group willing to learn."
To find a senior leader you don't have to look much further than the stat sheet. Tammara Marion leads SFA in most offensive categories but also admits she enjoys the leadership role on and off the court.
"Being so young they are going to look up to you and everything you do in the classroom and on the court," said Marion. "I'm a leader by example, not speaking more but showing more."
Schneider says Marion shows it by playing out of position for the good of the team.
"The thing I respect most about Tamarra is her willingness to do whatever it takes for our team to be successful," said Schneider. "She's not a true point guard and probably would be more comfortable at the off guard spot, but she has just been a tremendous leader especially by example."
Marion and the Ladyjacks host 0-3 UT-Arlington before going on the road to face rival Sam Houston State. The Lady Bearkats currently lead the conference and are undefeated in Southland play so far.
