Body Found in Flaming Pick-Up Truck

There are certainly more questions than answers right now in Sabine County. Law enforcement is being very careful with what information they have, but much of the details surrounding this case remain a mystery.

The investigation began with a passerby calling in a truck fire on Twin Creek Drive off of Farm Road 242 around 11:00 last night. Once fire crews contained the blaze, they spotted a man's body in the bed of the pick-up. Sabine County sheriff's investigators were joined by Texas Rangers in searching the scene for clues.

The truck is being kept at a nearby auto service center. Sheriff Tommy Maddox tells the East Texas News that they have traced the truck back to a residence in Beaumont. He says a man at the residence has not been seen since about 4:00 PM yesterday, but at this point they cannot say whether the body found in the truck is his. Maddox says the body has been taken to the DPS crimelab in Beaumont for an autopsy. The autopsy should tell investigators who the victim is and how he was killed. Hopefully, that will give them an idea of who is responsible for what is to many a shocking and disturbing crime.
