Mack Brown receives contract extension

AUSTIN, TX (KTRE) - Mack Brown and the University of Texas have agreed to a contract extension that will keep Brown in Austin until the end of the 2020 season.

His new contract, which is scheduled to pay him $5.2 million a year until 2020, makes him the highest paid coach in the game, ahead of Nick Saban, Bob Stoops, Urban Meyer and Les Miles, all of whom make less than $5 million annually.

The 60-year old Brown came to Texas in 1998 and has won two Big 12 Championships and a national championship in 2005.

He as a 141-39 record during his time.

However, Texas has gone 13-12 the last two seasons, including a dreadful 5-7 campaign in 2010, ending a nine-year strectch of at least 10-wins a year.
