NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - A Nacogdoches man pleaded guilty to killing a kitten and will be going to jail for the crime.
Juan Rodriguez agreed to serve 180 days in county jail in exchange for pleading guilty to cruelty to animals.
Rodriguez was arrested in July 2011 after witnesses saw him stomp, kick and kill a kitten in his front yard. Police arrived on the scene and made the arrest after seeing the dead kitten and taking witness statements.
Because the cat was a non-livestock, he was charged with a state-jail felony.
