ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - Eight people were detained at the Angelina County Jail after officials say they were trying to move into the United States illegally.
Lt. Pete Cooper said deputies made a traffic stop on a Dodge minivan on U.S. 59 North around 1 a.m. Monday near Rivercrest Road, after they were driving without a license plate.
Deputies interviewed the people in the vehicle and determined they were illegal immigrants after they gave conflicting stories.
Seven of the eight were released from the Angelina County Jail as of 11:30 a.m. after an I.C.E. agent interviewed them to determine the next steps.
