LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

A former Groveton softball coach is charged with an improper relationship with a minor at Bastrop ISD. He is the second coach charged with the crime who has coached at Groveton.

Jonathan Matthew Frelich, 31, of Kyle was arrested Thursday and booked into the Bastrop County Jail.

Frelich was an assistant softball coach at Bastrop High.

Prior to moving to Bastrop, Frelich was a former teacher and softball coach at Groveton High School from 2008-2010.

"We've never had any problems, or reports about Frelich. None of this matter," said Joe Driskell, superintendent for Groveton ISD.

Driskell said was the coach at the high school for two years before leaving.

Frelich's arrest comes days after Jeremy Carroll, also a former a former Groveton HS softball coach, was arrested.

Earlier this month, Carroll was arrested and charged with improper relationship between educator/student.
