Suspected Drunk Driver Causes Power Outage for Major Industry, City

Around 3:15 AM, police say David Celestine ran his car into a power pole in Huntington. Celestine was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated, his blood alcohol level tested at 2 times the legal limit.

The downed power pole caused power to be out from the Huntington City Limits, up Highway 69 South to the Lufkin City Limits. Lufkin Industries has a trailer and oilfield division manufacturing plant on Highway 69.

According to Lufkin Industries Vice President, both plants were without power this morning. Close to 300 employees from both plants were sent home as a result of the power outage.

At this time, Perez says it's too early to tell what financial impact the power outage will have. Power was restored to the area before noon today.
