Heavy rain and storms set to move out this evening

Posted: Updated:
EAST TEXAS (KTRE) -

Showers and thunderstorms will continue to track across East Texas this afternoon.  These storms will contain very heavy rainfall and provide frequent cloud-to-ground lightning strikes.

So far today, we have had reports of street flooding in southern Polk county, just east of Livingston on Highway 3152.  We have also had reports of quarter size hail earlier this afternoon near Etoile, along Highway 103 and FM 226 in eastern Nacogdoches county.

The concern for the rest of today will be some ponding of water on roadway and some minor street flooding as pockets of heavy rain linger for parts of the Piney Woods.  Make sure you slow down as you make your way around East Texas this afternoon.

To get a more detailed look at your forecast, you can head to our StormTracker Weather Center.  It is there where you can also view our live streaming radar for any storms that move in this afternoon.  If you would like to take over the controls and zoom down to your local streets, please try our Interactive Radar.

If you have an Android or iPhone, you can download our StormTracker 9 weather app, which is available in the App store. Our KTRE Weather app gives you access to our Interactive Radar, hour-by-hour forecasts, and most importantly, severe weather alerts where you live.
