LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Lufkin Police have arrested a group home worker accused of assaulting a mentally disabled resident in January.
Carla Jenni Simmons, 45, of Lufkin, is charged with injury to a disabled individual.
According to the arrest warrant affidavit, Simmons was working at the Lufkin group home on Jan. 24 and told a mentally disabled woman to get off the couch. The victim reported the abuse to a supervisor the next day, after the supervisor asked about several large bruises on her arm.
Police interviewed the victim and witnesses and obtained a warrant for Simmons' arrest on Feb. 8.
Simmons was booked into the Angelina County Jail on Thursday. She was released after posting a $3,000 bond.
