LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is busy installing new traffic signals in the areas of Livingston and Crockett, Texas.

TxDOT is advising motorists to use caution when traveling through the intersection of Business 59 (North Washington Ave.) and SH 146 (North Houston Ave) in Livingston.

Construction work on the new traffic signal is nearing completion and on Tuesday, February 28, TxDOT's contractors will be on the project working to get the new signal equipment fully operational. Drivers can expect to see the new signal placed in operation sometime during the middle of the morning.

Crews are also working on a new traffic signal at the intersection of Loop 304 and SH 7 east in Crockett. Construction work on the new traffic signal is nearing completion and Thursday, March 1, TxDOT's contractors will be on the project working to get the new signal equipment fully operational.

TxDOT urges motorists to use caution when traveling through both intersections. Motorists should expect to see workers doing final inspections and cleanup in the areas for the next few weeks.

Remember, traffic fines double when workers are present.

Both new signals in Livingston and Crockett will have steel poles with mast arms, video detection, and audible pedestrian push buttons and will operate traffic responsive. Drivers will also see new pavement markings, stop bars and crosswalks. The new signal is expected to improve traffic flow and safety for drivers and pedestrians.
