The long awaited search is apparently over. Lufkin ISD's Superintendent Roy Knight will make his recommendation for the athletic director/head football coach position at Thursday's school board meeting.
The meeting will be held at Lufkin's administration building downtown where a number of other topics are expected to be discussed before the open position. In fact "consideration and board action upon the employment of an athletic director" is listed 16th among 17 plans of action.
Knight has given no indication of the amount of candidates interviewed, however he has said in the past they would look internally first. For more than a month Todd Quick has been interim athletic director, after 17-year head coach and athletic director John Outlaw's death in December of 2011.
We will update this story with the announcement Thursday evening, as well as speak with the new athletic director and Superintendent Roy Knight during the 10PM newscast.
