LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

Lufkin Police arrested a Pineland man Wednesday afternoon after he cut a woman with a three-feet long Samurai sword on the campus of Angelina College.

According to Cpl. Nick Malone, a group of students were sitting at a picnic table at 2:38 p.m. when James Carl Martin, 21, pulled up in a car and got out with the sword.

Malone said Martin was paranoid that the group was talking about him and he began arguing with them before he started swinging the sword at the picnic table.

During the frenzy, Martin recklessly cut a woman with the sword.

Malone said it is illegal to have that kind of weapon in public, plus he had it in a place where weapons were prohibited.

Martin is charged with aggravated assault and place where weapons are prohibited. As of Thursday afternoon, bond had yet to be set.

The woman suffered a minor injury.
