Two East Texans dead after vehicle crashes into a tree

Two people have died as the result of a vehicle crashing into a tree early Sunday morning.

DPS officials have told KLTV that around 3:30 Sunday morning, 36 year old Andrew Jeremiah Whitton of Tyler was driving a 2005 Pontiac Sunbird southbound on County Road 285 near County Road 288 when the vehicle veered off the road and hit a tree. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The passenger in the vehicle is identified as 38 year old Sarah Catherine Brown of Tyler. She was also pronounced dead at the scene.

Nobody in the vehicle was wearing a seatbelt.
