The Lumberjacks basketball team is preparing for their last two games of the season, they just happen to be the 'Jacks two biggest rivals as well. It is a big week for SFA beyond just getting prepared for the postseason because they are looking to sweep both Sam Houston State and Northwestern State.
The 'Jacks are winners of 8 of their last 10 games and hitting their stride at the right time of the season. But coach Danny Kaspar warns that they looked this good last season too before a dissapointing ending.
"Last year at this time we were going into the last week playing really good basketball and then we lost the last two," said Kaspar. "So believe me i have reminded my players about that."
The Lumberjacks are now tied for second place in the Southland conference and while they won't catch UT-Arlington Kaspar still stressed that this is an important week.
"It is important to win these last two and go into the tournament with a possible number two or three seed," said Kaspar. "We want that momentum."
SFA's largest crowd this season by far was when Sam Houston State came to Nacogdoches and Kaspar warns that the 'Jacks should be expecting the same thing from the Bearkats.
"To try to sweep Sam Houston and Northwestern will be very difficult because Sam will have a very good crownd on hand for us," said Kaspar. "Just like the crowd we had for them here, so it is going to be a very difficult game."
The team will travel to Sam Houston Wednesday night with tipoff starting at 7:00p.m., while the last chance to catch the purple and white at home this season will be on Saturday as they host the rival Northwestern Demons.
