LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Tuesday is National Pancake Day as designated by the International House of Pancakes (IHOP) restaurant chain.
Each year local IHOP restaurants offer free short stacks in hopes that diners will make a donation for Children's Miracle Network. In 2011 the Lufkin IHOP raise $4,000. "This year we will reach $5,000. We have had a full house. We started serving at 7 o'clock this morning," said Mike Gherehchi, Lufkin IHOP owner.
Gherehchi says they will be serving up free pancakes until 10 Tuesday night. "We want to make sure people keep coming and they support Shriner's hospital and raise the money and people then they can donate the money and have a free short stack."
IHOPS across the country are offering the free pancakes, however, the Lufkin fundraiser ends at 10 Tuesday night.
