GROVETON, TX (KTRE) -

A Groveton man pleaded guilty Tuesday to eight counts of arson, accepting a probation sentence and other terms.

Trinity County District Attorney Joe Ned Dean said Kenneth Paul Woychesin III will also pay a fine, pay restitution to the Groveton Fire Department, participate in community service and undergo counseling.

Woychesin was arrested on a grand jury indictment in October for setting two fires on Forest Road 501 and one on JV Price Road. The fires on Forest Road 501 were set on August 16 and 30 and the other was set on property adjacent to FM 2262. None of the fires were any larger than 30 acres.

Dean said after that indictment, Woychesin's case was presented again before a grand jury and he was re-indicted on eight total counts. All eight fires were during the same period of time.

Dean said Woychesin confessed prior to the indictment to setting the fires.
