Police: Lufkin man beats neighbor, kicks officer

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

A Lufkin man who is accused of assaulting his neighbor and a police officer is arrested.

According to the Lufkin Police report, officers responded to a call about a disturbance at Ricks Road Trailer Park, around 9:15 p.m. Wednesday night.

 Upon arriving they found the suspect, Fabian Tamez, 22, of Lufkin, had assaulted a neighbor.

The report stated the neighbor tried to check the welfare of Tamez's girlfriend and her children during a disturbance between Tamez and his girlfriend.

Tamez allegedly struck the neighbor's head with a hammer and metal pipe.  Once detained by officers, Tamez kicked an officer in the chest and face, causing minor injury, according to police.

Police report the officer's lip was split, but he is OK.  

Lufkin Police officers arrested Tamez, he has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and assault of a public servant.

Tamez was booked into Angelina County Jail.
