Lufkin man pulls into gas station, dies

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

A Lufkin man pulled into a gas station and died Thursday morning, according to police.

Lt. Alton Lenderman said store clerks at Polk's #17, located on State Highway 103 East called 911 at 12:47 p.m. and said a man was slumped over his steering wheel.

Police arrived at the scene and determined the man, identified as Audie Jene Suggs, 51, was dead. Justice of the Peace Billy Ball arrived on the scene to pronounce him.

Store personnel reviewed surveillance video and saw that Suggs arrived in a pickup truck at 11:08 a.m. and never got out of the truck.

Police contacted Suggs' family members, who said he had a long history of medical problems. Police found no obvious signs of foul play but will continue to investigate.
