Shelby Co. authorities arrest wanted La. man

JOAQUIN, TX - Shelby County Sheriff Newton Johnson reports that on March 1, 2012, at approximately 11:15 pm, Sheriff Johnson along with deputies from the Shelby County Sheriff's Department and members of the U. S. Marshals Service out of Shreveport, Louisiana arrested Christopher Williams.  Williams, 36 yoa, was located and arrested without incident at the Country Inn in Joaquin, Texas.

At the time of this arrest, Mr. Williams was found to be in possession of Cocaine, a pistol and $2,600.00 in case.  Mr. Williams was booked into the Shelby County Jail and charged with Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Possession of Cocaine.

A hold has been placed on Mr. Williams by the DeSoto Parrish Louisiana Sheriff's Department for the following warrants, Resisting an Officer, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession with intent to Distribute Schedule II Drug, Possession of Schedule III Drug and Possession of Marijuana-Second Offense.

Sheriff Johnson would like to thank everyone involved in this arrest.  The Shelby County Sheriff's Department works closely with the Desoto Parrish Sheriff's Department and the U.S. Marshals Service and is gradually closing the corridor of escape from justice by simply crossing the Sabine River.
