White Oak boys advance to state for first time since 1959

NACOGDOCHES, TX (KLTV/KTRE) - For the first time since 1959, the White Oak Roughnecks are advancing to the state tournament.

White Oak defeated Kountze 65-63 in the 2A Regional Finals to run their record to an amazing 35-1 and run their winning streak to 30 straight.

After falling behind 19-10 at the end of the 1st quarter, the 'Necks bounced back to take a 33-31 lead at halftime.

They would increase their lead to 7 before Kountze would mount an 18-0 run to lead 53-42 entering the 4th quarter.

White Oak would charge back with a 19-7 run to eventually take the lead 62-60, then held on for the win.

The Roughnecks will play Friday morning at either 8:30 or 10:00 with an opponent yet to be determined.
