Lady Roadrunner softball wins pair of thrillers, baseball sweeps Alvin

The Angelina College Lady Roadrunners on Friday swept a pair of games in thrilling fashion, beating Texarkana 7-6 and Midland 3-2 in Regional Crossover Tournament action in Longview.

Shelby Wallace drove a two-out, two-strike game-winning single to give AC the walk-off, 3-2 win over Midland in the nightcap. Wallace's shot up the middle scored pinch runner Courtney Robbins from second.

Shelby Phillips scattered eight hits and struck out two over seven innings, and Kolebi Hodges singled twice and three trips to the plate in the win.

Against Texarkana, Emily Ramsey singled three times in four at-bats, with the last hit driving in the game winner. Taylor Brookshire picked up two singles in three at-bats.

The Lady 'Runners (6-2) play three on Saturday, facing Paris at 9 a.m., Lon Morris at 3 p.m. and Navarro at 7 p.m.

Lapeze Tosses Shutout

The Angelina College Roadrunner baseball team finished a best two-out-of-three series with Alvin by sweeping the Dolphins Saturday at Roadrunner Field.

Cory LaPeze tossed a complete-game shutout in AC's 2-0 win in the nightcap after the Roadrunners took a 5-1 win in the opener.

The 'Runners (11-12, 7-7) will open a three-game series with Wharton with Thursday's nine-inning game beginning at 3 p.m. The series will conclude in Wharton on Saturday with a doubleheader scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
