ANGELINA CO., TX  (KTRE) – Angelina County Sheriff's deputies are cataloging evidence from a drug raid Wednesday that produced a large sum of cash and marijuana.

Deputies went to a residence off of Lufkin Avenue on Wednesday.  They were following up on a tip from San Augustine County that there was illegal drug activity at the house.  They searched the house and adjacent building.  They said they confiscated about 30 lbs. of marijuana, and $3,600 in cash.

Investigators said when they arrived, the suspect, identified as James Steven Johnson, 39, drove his car into a pasture and then fled.  They said he was living at the residence with his parents.

The property is located less than a mile from Lufkin High School, however, deputies noted it is not inside the Drug Free Zone.

Deputies said Johnson is expected to turn himself in to law enforcement.  A warrant has been issued for his arrest.
