BARKSDALE AIR FORCE BASE, LA (KTRE) -

A Lufkin High School graduate took his final Air Force flight Thursday as part of his retirement ceremony.

Lt. Col. David B. Deaton, of De Berry and a 1974 graduate at LHS, was a pilot for the 47th Fighter Squadron.

During Deaton's 27 years of flying the A-10 Thunderbolt II at Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana, he flew for more than 5,000 hours.

Deaton graduated from the Air Force Academy in 1978.
