HOUSTON, TX (KTRE) - A woman who says she has been separated from her son for eight years will have to wait before being reunited with him, according to a Houston TV station.
KTRK reported Thursday that Auboni Champion-Morin attended an emergency court hearing, where she and her husband agreed to a DNA test to prove the eight-year-old boy is theirs.
Champion-Morin could be granted a visit with the boy before her next court date on March 28. A CPS case worker told the judge that the boy seems to be doing OK, but does not fully grasp the situation.
The San Augustine Sheriff's Office arrested Krystle Tanner, 26, earlier this week on a charge of kidnapping.
Tuesday night, the suspect's sister contacted the Houston Police Homicide Division and said the missing child was in her possession and he was safe in Houston.
Tanner, the boy's godmother, is accused of kidnapping the child in 2004.
