LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

Lufkin Police arrested a man Thursday morning who they say admitted to passing counterfeit $20 bills at several Dollar General stores.

According to the report, Daniel Allen Woltz, 28, of Lufkin, was using the bills to buy Visa gift cards at the stores. Employees at the store on Atkinson Drive caught the fake bills after he had left and called police.

Officers were able to use video to see the license plate Woltz was driving and connected it to a residence, where Woltz was when police arrived, according to the report.

Woltz admitted to making the fake bills in a motel room in Gainesville. All the bills had the same serial number.

Woltz was taken to the Angelina County Jail on a charge of forgery, where he is being held on a $7,500 bond.
