After a season that saw SFA lose out in the semifinals of the Southland conference tournament the Lumberjacks have received some bad news for next year. Sophomore point guard Darius Gardner announced via twitter that he will not be returning to SFA's men's basketball team next year.
"Big day became sad day, I will not be returning to SFA next year," said Gardner on twitter Tuesday afternoon.
This leaves depth problems at the point guard position for the Lumberjacks next season with just one on the current roster. Although his average was just 4.4 points per game Gardner hit a few key threes during the opening round Southland victory over Sam Houston State when he scored 13 points. His career high in scoring came against High Point in the annual bracket busters game when Gardner scored 15 points in a Lumberjack victory.
SFA officials could not comment on the announcement and Gardner has not indicated where he may be transferring to next year.
