Tyler homeowner catches robber in the act

Just after 3:40 am,  the Tyler Police Department received a telephone call regarding an individual believed to be breaking into the caller's residence located within the 1300 block of S. Azalea Dr.

While responding officers were informed that the caller's husband and neighbor had caught the suspect and were holding him until officers arrived. Once on scene the victim told officers he witnessed the suspect, identified as Ronald Carter, 53, from Tyler break into his vehicle and remove his property. The victim confronted the suspect and a struggle ensued leading to the victim sustaining minor injuries.

The suspect managed to free himself from the victim only to be caught again by the victim's next door neighbor a few feet away. Ronald Carter was placed in custody for Robbery and transported to the Smith County jail.
