Authorities make 2nd arrest in 2004 kidnapping

Authorities in Travis County have arrested a second woman in connection to a 2004 kidnapping.

Gloria Jean Walker, of Manor, was arrested on a charge of kidnapping by the Manor Police Department and Texas Rangers at 10:20 a.m., according to San Augustine County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Gary Cunningham.

She is being held in the Travis County Jail on a $250,000 bond and will be transferred to San Augustine County after arraignment.

Cunningham said Walker is the mother Krystle Tanner, who was arrested earlier this month on a charge of kidnapping, from a 2004 abduction.

Cunningham explained Walker has not been "completely forthright" in the investigation and hindered the investigation.

The long-dormant case got new life last summer when Tanner took an eight-year-old boy to a hospital for treatment of a leg injury. When she couldn't provide his name or a Social Security number, hospital staff became concerned and contacted child welfare investigators who eventually were able to link Tanner to the 2004 Houston case.

Tanner was arrested March 12. Her sister, after seeing reports about the arrest, called police the next day and offered to turn over the child she believed was Tanner's stepson.
