LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - During the busiest time in the NFL offseason for a free agent Lufkin native Rex Hadnot took time to stop by Lufkin Middle School to speak with eighth graders Friday afternoon. Hadnot spoke of the importance of staying in school, achieving goals and being proud of their community to his eager onlookers.
"I think it is important that we continue to talk to the youth about setting goals and the work that is involved in reaching those goals," said Hadnot. "I think by digging into the kids minds with that type of tool, goal setting, then we will start to get a little more positive results from the youth."
The former Panther says he plans on getting right back on a plane Saturday night and continue visiting teams around the league about open offensive line positions. Hadnot has not signed anywhere just yet and says all the rumors are not true, but he did hint at where he could end up next season.
"There are a lot of rumors," said Hadnot. "Maybe I'll be a little closer to home, maybe even right down (highway) 59, who knows. I could even go as far away as Wisconsin. We are just keeping our options open and again whatever God puts in front of me, whatever fit it is, I know it will be the right fit."
The Houston Texans are currently without a right guard and right tackle so that could be a nice landing spot for the East Texas native. But nothing is set in stone just yet. Check back with KTRE and KTRE.com for the latest news regarding Hadnot's free agency.
