Suspected Smith Co. purse-snatcher identified

SMITH COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -

The identity of a suspect accused of snatching a purse, then leading authorities on a chase through Smith County before wrecking has been released.

He is identified as 33-year-old, Reginald D. Whitmill of Tyler.

Whitmill wrecked on County Road 427, just north on Highway 110, just west of Tyler, bringing the chase to an end.

Deputies say he stole a purse, and a witness started chasing him.

Someone called the Sheriff's department, and that's when they joined the chase.
