Three Angelina College Roadrunner basketball players have been named to Region XIV's post-season superlatives list, with Mike Myers leading the way by landing on both the All-Region and All-Conference lists.
Myers, the 6'8" sophomore out of Camden, N.J. was named 1st Team on both lists after a season in which he just missed averaging a double-double: 20.3 points – 2nd in Region XIV – and 9.1 rebounds per game. Myers did manage to finish with 15 games averaging double figures in each category; he also led the team in field goal percentage (64.6 percent, 1st in Region XIV), steals (49) and minutes played (30.8 minutes per game). The highly sought recruit is expected to announce his next destination early next week.
Freshman sensations Jaylen Daniel and LaDerrien Jackson each made the All-Conference Honorable Mention lists after putting up big numbers throughout 2011-2012. Daniel, a 6'7" product out of Winchester, Ky. averaged 11.5 points per game, hitting 35.2 percent of his three-point attempts and 76.7 percent from the free-throw line.
Jackson, the 6'5" sharpshooter from Gibsland, La., scored 10.6 points per game and finished second in the conference with a 40.3 shooting percentage from three-point range. Jackson was also second on the team in assists, dishing out 51 for the season.
Trinity Valley's D.D. Scarver was the conference's Most Valuable Player, and Chuck Taylor of Paris College was named Coach of the Year.
