GRAPELAND, TX (KTRE) -

Grapeland Police have arrested a band director at the high school on a charge of having an inappropriate relationship with a student.

Houston County Jail records show Adrian Gonzalo Tovar, 32, of Austin, was booked on a charge of improper relationship between an educator and student on Monday.

According to an article on CountyLifeOnline.com, Grapeland ISD hired Tovar as the band director on Aug. 1, 2011.

Grapeland Police have yet to comment on the arrest.

According to a statement from Dr. K.L. Groholski, superintendent at Grapeland ISD, Tovar was placed on suspension last week and resigned shortly later. School officials made a report to police on March 30, which was within the timelines required by law and under advisement from the district's attorney, Groholski stated.

Groholski stated the band director post has been filled.
