LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

A Lufkin man apparently did not want to go back to prison and dug an even deeper hole by kicking an officer during an arrest Thursday evening.

According to Sgt. Rodney Squyres, police were serving a parole warrant for Eugene Kenneth Donaghue, 37, at Super 6 Motel, located on the 1000 block of South Timberland Drive. Squyres said Donaghue attempted to avoid being arrested and kicked an officer.

Officers managed to place Donaghue under arrest and added an additional charge of assault of a public servant.

Squyres said the officer was OK, minus some bruising and scratching.

Donaghue was convicted in 2008 on an out-of-state rape charge, according to sex offender database records.
