LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A Lufkin woman who once reported her counterfeiting equipment was stolen and who stole men's clothing from a Walmart from which she was banned is back in jail on alleged probation violations.
Dustin Fore, supervisor with the Angelina County Adult Probation Department, said Ladona Jo Stewart, 26, of Kilgore, had not completed all the terms of her misdemeanor probation. In that situation, Fore said, the department must file a violation report with the courts and ask for a warrant to keep her probation from expiring.
Stewart was also given 30 days in jail on her felony charge for other violations, Fore said. Those other violations were not immediately available.
Stewart was arrested by Lufkin Police in May 2011 after she tried to pass fake 10-dollar bills at a Polk's convenience store on South Timberland Drive.
After bonding out of jail, Stewart called police to report roommates stole items from their residence while she was in jail, including her counterfeiting equipment. She later contacted police that day to tell the officer she had recovered a box containing some of the stolen property. When the officer inspected the box, he found an envelope containing counterfeit money.
Stewart was arrested in June on counterfeiting after a police investigation into other cases.
Police arrested her again in July after a Walmart employee caught her stealing two packages of men's tank tops, a package of men's socks, a package of men's boxer shorts and two bottled drinks, totaling $28 in value.
Because Steweart was banned from the Walmart, she was charged with criminal trespass, in addition to a theft charge, which was enhanced to a felony, because she had twice previously been convicted of theft.
Stewart pleaded guilty to all the charges in July, accepting a six-month probation sentence on the misdemeanor and four years probation on the felonies.
