Wendy's dumps controversial ALEC group

The American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) has come under fire after news of its heavy push for "Stand Your Ground" laws across the country broke.

Yesterday, Wendy's International, the parent company of the Wendy's fast-food chain, announced through Twitter that it had dropped its membership with ALEC in late 2011 because it "didn't fit our business needs."

The chain is one of six major companies to announce that they have dropped membership with the group, including McDonald's, Kraft Foods, Coca-Cola, Pepsi and Inuit.
