Gun-wielding robber targets bank customer

A frightening ordeal for an East Texas woman, robbed at gunpoint in broad daylight. The robbery happened around 2:45 Sunday afternoon at the Capital One bank on Judson road in Longview.

Security video shows a woman driving up to a bank drop. As she gets out, a man walks from behind the building, holding a gun.

"She had pulled up to make her deposit, gotten out of the vehicle, and an unknown black male came around the corner. She didn't see him," says Longview public information officer Kristie Brian.

Police say the robber was concealed behind the building, perhaps waiting for a lone car.

"He was there waiting on her. It is a pretty isolated area. He also took her cell phone, so she couldn't call police until someone else showed up," Brian says.

Police say he should be considered dangerous.

"We wouldn't want anyone to confront him," adds Brian.

Wearing a bandana over his face, he left little for the security camera to see. The victim was not injured. Police hope someone will give them a tip on who this is.

"Hopefully people will see the video maybe recognize the person maybe recognize someone who came into a lot of money really quickly," Brian says.

Police say the suspect got away with an undisclosed amount of cash. Anyone with information is asked to call Longview police.
