Golfers and sponsors needed for the 18th Annual Oscar Brookshire Memorial Tourney

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) – How would you like to play a round of golf and help a much needed local non-profit organization in the process?  The 18th Annual Oscar Brookshire Memorial Golf Tournament offers you that chance.

The tournament will be held at Neches Pines Golf Course in Diboll on April 21st beginning at 8 that morning.  Organizers are seeking golfers and they say sponsorship slots for businesses are also still available.

"This is our biggest fundraiser of the year," said ADAC Executive Director Phyllis Grandgeorge. "The funds we generate from this one event help us serve the tens of thousands of children and adults we see each year through our many programs."

Cash prizes will be awarded for individuals on the first, second, and third-place teams.  First place team members will be awarded $150 each, with second place team members getting $100 each, while each golfer on the third place team will win $50, according to a news release.

Neches Pines Golf Course is again the host of the Oscar Brookshire Memorial Golf Tournament. Cost of the tournament will be $65 per non-member, $55 per member, and $50 per member with a cart.

Format for the tournament will be a four-person scramble.  Golfers are encouraged to make their own team, but walk-up individual golfers will also be accepted.  Mulligans can be purchased and there will also be a longest drive contest.

Organizers say all donations are tax deductible.  For more information call 936-634-5753.

The Alcohol and Drug Abuse Council is a non-profit organization that provides clinical, prevention, and intervention services in the following 12-county area: Angelina, Houston, Jasper, Nacogdoches, Newton, Sabine, San Augustine, San Jacinto, Shelby, Trinity, and Tyler.
